CLARKS HILL, Ind. — The Tippecanoe County community is mourning the death of Justin Hurd, 32, of Wingate, who was killed Friday, May 15, 2026, in a crash involving a motorcycle and a school bus near County Road 400 East and State Road 38.
Authorities said emergency responders were called to the scene after reports of a serious collision in the Clarks Hill area. When crews arrived, they found Hurd, the motorcycle rider, suffering from critical injuries. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead from multiple blunt force injuries.
The Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office later identified Hurd and ruled his death accidental. Officials said the crash remains under investigation as they continue reviewing roadway conditions, vehicle positions, witness statements, and other evidence surrounding the incident.
Standard toxicology testing has also been ordered as part of the investigation. Results are expected in the coming weeks.
Hurd’s death has left family, friends, and neighbors grieving the loss of a man remembered as a valued community member whose life ended far too soon. Memorial arrangements are expected to be announced by the family.
