Friends, family, and the community are mourning the tragic loss of Devan Nolet, 30, of Mansfield, who died following a devastating motorcycle crash Friday evening in Windham.
According to the Connecticut State Police, the collision occurred at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Route 32 in front of Apollo Pizza. Troopers from Troop K and Windham EMS responded to reports of a serious crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle.
Investigators said a Ford Explorer driven by 83-year-old Pedro Johnson of North Windham was traveling northbound on Route 32 and attempting to make a left turn into a commercial driveway when it entered the path of oncoming traffic. At the same time, Nolet was traveling southbound on a Suzuki GSX-R750 motorcycle when the bike collided with the right front end of the SUV.
Authorities reported that Devan Nolet was ejected from the motorcycle during the impact and struck a nearby utility pole. Following the collision, the Ford Explorer continued forward and struck the rear of a parked vehicle.
Emergency responders transported Nolet to Windham Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite extensive efforts by medical personnel, he later died at the hospital. Officials confirmed that no other serious injuries were reported.
The investigation into the fatal crash remains ongoing as authorities continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the collision.
