The community of Lubbock is mourning the tragic and sudden loss of Jessica Baker, 40, who was found deceased Sunday afternoon inside a residence on Avenue L. According to the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit, officers responded to the 2000 block of Avenue L at approximately 3:40 p.m. on May 17 after receiving a report of a possible suicide.
When officers arrived at the residence, they discovered Baker unresponsive inside the home. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, and she was pronounced dead shortly after first responders arrived.
During the initial investigation, authorities identified suspicious circumstances at the residence, leading investigators to activate the Metro Special Crimes Unit for a more extensive investigation. Officials later confirmed that foul play is suspected in the case.
